The festive season is here, and although it is a happy time for many, for others it can be terribly lonely. Loneliness is an increasing issue especially for older adults or those living alone, affecting both physical and mental health. Age UK 2018 found that half a million older adults in the UK will be lonely over Christmas. Feelings of loneliness are exacerbated due to societal pressures to be sociable and jolly over Christmas.

Our vision is to enable independent living through innovative technology by offering a managed service, prevent cognitive decline and reduce loneliness among older adults whilst allowing Genie to become a companion.

This is a gentle reminder that if you know someone that is alone this Christmas, be it a neighbour, friend or an acquaintance do make the time to talk to them! The difference you make really could be life changing!
